On the Simulism page, the concept is explained using computer game history. This page lists actual developments in technology that one day will make it possible to create simulations that are as close to reality as the reality that we see around us.

Moore's Law (which states that computing power doubles every year), seems to have important implications for the Simulism theory. It therefor has it's own page on this wiki.

This article explains how in march 2006, scientists managed to simulate a real-life virus by simulating about a million atoms:

This simulation required a very heavy computer and they could only simulate about 50 nanoseconds of the life of the virus. For now, this strengthens the 'Complexity counterargument'.

The concept of 'augmented reality' does not deal with simulations, but demonstrates what we can currently already achieve in mixing the 'virtual' with the 'real'.

If the mind is in a Simulation, but the body is not, one needs to have a way to control the character inside the simulation. While in The Matrix this is done using a plug that is inserted directly into the brain, here are some interesting videos showing what kind of interfaces are already possible today.

Research on BCIs has been going on for more than 30 years, and from the mid-1990s there has been a dramatic increase in the knowledge gleaned from experiments. Years of animal experimentation have produced early working implants in humans designed to restore damaged hearing, sight and movement. Invasive BCIs are implanted directly into the grey matter of the brain and can transmit video and sound signals. Non-invasive BCIs record brainwaves that can be translated to movement of simulated body parts.
